Blessings on the Blossom, Blessing on the fruit. Blessings on the leaf and Stem and Blessings on our food.
At Stepping Stones Children’s Garden, we are incredibly proud to deliver vibrant, fresh, and local home-cooked organic meals and snacks that nurture our little ones. We are truly fortunate to be enveloped by a bountiful landscape of organic farms here in Humboldt County, allowing us to serve the finest ingredients. Our lamb and pork come directly from my own farm, and we delight in sourcing local beef from the esteemed Eel River Farms. Every bite is a celebration of seasonal, nutrient-rich produce because we wholeheartedly believe that the foundation of a child’s thriving journey lies in the power of nutrition.
Children enjoy a nutritious morning snack, a hot lunch packed with healthy options, and a revitalizing afternoon snack to fuel their energy throughout the day.
Part of our daily rhythm is providing the children with the 7-grain schedule. This not only enables the children to learn and connect each day of the week with the delicious grain or food we serve, but it also instills a profound sense of structure and warmth, fostering familiarity and joy in their daily lives.
Monday – Rice Day/Purple day
Tuesday – Barley Day/Red Day
Wednesday – Millet Day – Baking Day/Yellow Day
Thursday – Rye Day/Orange Day
Friday – Oat Day – Friendship Soup Day/Green Day
On Wednesdays, we bake bread with the children, involving them in every step from mixing to kneading, culminating in the delight of enjoying fresh, warm bread. On Fridays, we encourage families to bring a vegetable or protein to share, allowing us to create delicious soup together. The children eagerly assist with chopping vegetables, adding to the excitement of the day!
